It's easy to play. Each week, you'll pick 4 drivers, one from each
bracket. Then you'll also pick a Wild
Card Bonus Driver from the entire field. But pick your Bonus Driver
carefully, because once you've used a driver, you won't be able to
choose him as your Bonus Driver again.
Every Monday after a race, we'll give you points based on how your
drivers finished and tally the points. The top scoring player
each week* will receive the Weekly Prize: a free oil change
or a free full hand car wash from Preferred Automotive in Georgetown!†
But don't stop at the weekly prizes; we'll keep tallying your scores
after that. The person with the most points at the end of the first
half of the NASCAR Sprint Cup season** will receive the Grand
Prize: Two tickets to the September 2013 Sprint Cup race at
Dover International Speedway!
After awarding the first-half grand prize, we'll reset everyone's scores
and Wild Card Bonus Drivers, and give you another chance to win into the
fall.
* - Checkered Flag Challenge players are only allowed to win ONE (1)
Weekly Prize for the length of the contest.
If the top scoring player has already won a Weekly Prize, the prize
will move down to the next highest scoring person who has NOT won a
Prize Pack.
† - Prize alternates week to week at Preferred Automotive's discretion,
not winner's choice. Prize valued at $39.95.
** - The second half of the season begins with the NASCAR Sprint Cup Race
at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on July 14th.

When you view each week's Checkered Flag Challenge entry form, you'll
see four brackets of drivers; 10 drivers in each of the first three
brackets, and 20 drivers in the 4th bracket. The drivers are listed in
order of their current Sprint Cup standings (using the final standings
from the previous year for the first race), so the first bracket is the top 10
drivers, the second bracket is drivers #11-20, and so on. Think of
it as putting together your own NASCAR team for the week - you'll
choose one driver from each bracket, and then hope that each driver
was the best choice from among the drivers available.
You'll also need to pick your Wild Card Bonus Driver. For this pick,
you'll be able to choose any driver from the entire NASCAR Sprint Cup
field. But remember, you can only choose a driver as your Wild Card Bonus
Driver once for the entire contest. Once you use a driver, their name
will not appear as a choice for future Wild Card Bonus Drivers.

Your points are determined by where the drivers you pick finish in
that week's race. We will score the drivers who race in that week's
Sprint Cup race starting with 43 points for finishing first, subtracting
1 point for each successive position, down to 1 point for finishing last.
If the driver you pick is in the race, he will get anywhere from 43
points to 1 point. If he does not make the race, he gets zero points.
(Note: This scoring is regardless of whether the driver is competing
for a Sprint Cup championship. If they race in a Sprint Cup race, you
can earn points for picking him/her.)
As an example, let's say one of the drivers you picked this week was
Jimmie Johnson. If Jimmie Johnson wins this week's race, you'll
earn 43 points, plus points based on how the other drivers you picked
finished! And if you also happened to pick Jimmie as your Wild
Card Bonus Driver this week, you'd score another 43 points
for that pick! That's a whole lot of points available each and every
week!
Several important notes about scoring:
- NASCAR awards drivers bonus points for winning the race, leading a
lap or leading the most laps. We do NOT award these bonus
points in the Checkered Flag Challenge.
- Scoring is based on the drivers you pick, not on
team or car number. You will only receive points based on how the drivers
you pick fare. If there is a substitute driver on a team for any given
week, that substitute driver is credited with the points he wins,
NOT the driver who usually drives that car.
- Our scoring method does not factor in whether a driver is competing
for a Sprint Cup championship. If a driver races in a Sprint Cup race, you
can earn points for picking him/her. (This note pertains to the NASCAR
rule that drivers can only earn points in one series. If a Nationwide
Series driver races in a Sprint Cup race, they do not earn Sprint Cup
points. But you will still earn Checkered Flag Challenge points if
you pick them.)

Scoring is cumulative, so come back every week to play. Whoever has
earned the most points at the end of each half of the NASCAR Sprint Cup
season receives the grand prize!
